The Gate House
The brief for this bar in the Irish midlands was to create a traditional style pub as authentic to the original pubs of Ireland as possible.
A strong shopfront was carefully detailed with heavy corbels and intricate mouldings, in traditional black gloss paint with Gold Leaf lettering. Georgian-style sash windows were fitted throughout.
The customer is greeted with a traditional oak bar and backbar, inspired by the pubs that once sold groceries and fuel. The pub is furnished with alcoves of fitted banquettes and cosy seating to encourage conversation. Beautiful screens with acid-etched glass break up the pub and add to the intimate atmosphere. The toilet areas are particularly unique in that a tile to simulate wood panelling was fitted with a hard-wearing wall-covering at high level so that the traditional appearance is continued throughout.
