As with all reception desks, they are often the first point of contact the customer has with an organization. This desk was designed to fit in a specific space, which, due to the shape of the area, naturally took a slight curve.
A hardwearing but contemporary plinth of brushed stainless steel was fitted, in keeping with the ironmongery throughout the building. The face of the desk was fitted with and even six square cherry panels.
The design of the counter was very specific, as it needed to allow for the receptionist to work as if at a normal desk, but also be wheelchair friendly. For this reason, a sandblasted glass screen was fixed to the counter in order to conceal unsightly computer wiring. This screen was set back about five inches from the face of the counter to accommodate a customer’s umbrella, handbag or so on. A ledge above the screen aesthetically completes the design.
